Ronen GINZBURG: “We felt the support of the Ukrainians throughout the match”
Prometheus head coach Ronen Ginsberg commented on his 82:71 win over Litkabelis in the Eurocup opening game:
“We were under pressure of responsibility as the team played in Eurocup for the first time. We definitely feel better now. I’m satisfied. It’s not the game itself, but the attitude of the players towards it.
I told my basketball players that if many people from Ukraine came here with all the risks on this long journey, it is impossible to play without emotions. It’s incredible to see them here. For this reason, we are obliged to give 100% on the site. Even if he loses, definitely surrender 100% to the game. Even one person from Ukraine is a great support for us. We felt their support throughout the match. It’s amazing how they come and we felt them. I can say that they really want us to be successful and win the match. Incredible.
We played against a really good team with a good coach, it’s really a “coaching” team. We knew we had to control the pace of the game. But this is basketball. You can’t always play at the same level, there will be stagnations, failures. Of course, everyone was nervous when we let the opponent count in the third quarter. But that’s part of the game.”
