Facundo Cabasso joined the Mavericks with a big “but”…
Facundo Cabasso accepted the contract he was offered by the Dallas Mavericks, who completed the roster with 15 guaranteed contracts. The Argentine continues to pay to Real Madrid, but they secure the NBA pension.
The series, in which Facundo Cabaso played the leading role, ended on Wednesday (12/10) at midnight. According to an exclusive report from MARCA, the Argentine has accepted the Mavericks’ offer and will play the 2022/23 season in Dallas, where he will travel directly to integrate into the team’s schedule.
The 31-year-old point guard is paid a salary of $2 million per season, which means he will continue to pay out of pocket to play in the NBA. You see, Cabasso hasn’t paid off the release clause Real Madrid imposed on him, while he’s also been on minimum wage for the past two years with the Denver Nuggets.
The upside for Campaso is that he will secure an NBA draft while also playing a valuable role alongside Luka Doncic – Spencer Dinwiddie. He will take 15th place on the list, with the Mavericks closing their list and still able to offer a two-way as the first is currently held by Tyler Dorsey. Cabasso averaged 5.6 points, 1.9 rebounds and 3.5 assists per 20.1 minutes in 130 games with the Nuggets.
