Prometheus legionnaire DJ Stephens shared his expectations from the opening match of Eurocup against Lietkabelis (October 12):

– The DJ will debut at Prometheus Eurocup. Is this game special for you?

– Of course, this match is more important for us because this is a European Cup match. And of course we strive to win, we fight only for victory, to adequately represent the club. An additional motivation is that we play not only for Prometheus, but also for Ukraine and Ukraine.

– You have already played in the Eurocup in the second year of your European career. Tell us a little about this experience.

– Playing in European competitions, whether in the ULEB Eurocap or the FIBA Champions League, means a lot to me personally, because it is an opportunity to play against the best basketball players. This is an unforgettable atmosphere, unforgettable emotions from victories in tough matches, the desire to lead your team to victory and of course to win the tournament. Returning to Eurocup after 8 years means something to me. Throughout the season, I try to win every game, game after game, and of course, make it to the playoffs.

– What do you know about our first opponent, Lietkabelis? What can you say about this team?

– I know that Lithuanian teams always play selflessly and aggressively. It will be a tough match and a good test for us. We’ll see what we can do. We played two great matches in Turkey, two matches in the Latvian-Estonian league, and we won by a wide margin. But the real test for us will be on Wednesday. We’ve seen how we can play in the local league, now I can’t wait to see how we play in the European arena.

– Do you count on the support of fans? Would you like to feel their support?

– I’m not sure we’ll have enough support in Riga. This is an extraordinary situation – the Ukrainian team plays in another state. Now I know that there are many Ukrainians in neighboring countries. Maybe they will support a team from their homeland, our fans will be here too. However, we will only play to win in every match, whether there are fans or not.
