bwin and Union “Together for the Child”: Offer a brand new stadium for the children of Sapa Rodopi
bwin and the association “Together for the Child” have completely renovated a stadium, making a gift of great importance to children and young people in the rural Rhodope Mountains.
The most beautiful journey continues and Rhodope is the next stop of a wonderful initiative aimed at promoting the noble rivalry and the sporting ideal. The bwin and Union “Together for the Child” initiative has a second stop in 2022. The akritic Rodopi and the Intercultural Primary School of Sapon in the municipality of Maroneia-Sapon.
True to its social responsibility strategy, the internationally recognized gaming platform supports social groups in critical towns and villages in Greece. In cooperation with the association “Together for the Child”, bwin traveled to the municipality of Maroneia-Sapon in the Rodopi prefecture and implemented a project of great importance for children and young people.
The program includes the construction of five new fields in 2022, and the Sapon Intercultural Elementary School had their fault. The smiles of the 128 students accommodated in the school were the best “gift” for us and the … fuel to continue giving back to society! Let us continue to give our children sports facilities where they can learn the virtues of noble competition and the ideal of sport.
Now the students of Sapon Primary School have the opportunity to play on a brand new basketball court as a special safe carpet used in professional facilities was laid, basketball lines were created, backboards were replaced and protective layers were installed for the basketballs while the necessary nets were installed.
Out of respect for the students and the school environment, the work to complete a usable and safe playground was carried out during the summer. At the opening on October 3rd, the enthusiasm of the children and young people was great, because the orange ball can change their everyday life.
The Ambassador of bwin’s Fields Return to Society programme, Vassilis Spanoulis, was unable to attend the opening but sent a signed ball as a gift to the school. The message from everyone is that through sport, children and young people learn to respect, to play with rules and boundaries, to fight and to challenge.
The wonderful event was attended by the mayor of Maroneia – Sapon, Dinos Haritopoulos, the director of the school Sokratis Doropoulos, the president of the Union “Together for the Child” Alexandra Martinou and the director of corporate communications of bwin, Ioanna Beriou.
Alexandra Martinou, President of the Together for the Child Union said: “At Union for the Child, we work every day to offer equal opportunities to every child in every corner of Greece. In this context, with the valuable support of bwin, we have renovated another stadium. Together we offer the young students of the Intercultural Primary School of Sapon in remote Rodopi a safe environment for sport and play essential for their physical, mental and spiritual health and development We are delighted to have been able to deliver over 3,000 sqm with the kind support of bwin . stadiums in different parts of our country and we move on!”.
Ioanna Beriou, Director of Corporate Communications at bwin Greece, said: “We are proud of this project, which implements the reconstruction of stadiums across Greece. In the last two years we have rebuilt a total of eight stadiums, two in Didymoteicho, three in Samothraki, one in Kiato, Corinthia. We are very pleased to have delivered the completely renovated stadium of the Intercultural Primary School of Sapa. The aim of bwin is to give every child in the country access to sport and to “give back” modern, safe and functional stadiums to society.
All of us at bwin believe that sport knows no borders and that all children should have equal opportunities when it comes to sport and fun, regardless of the geographic region they live in. We want to achieve our goal: to give the stadiums back to society where they belong.”
