Vadim GUTZAYT: “Is there an audience in the stands? Safety matters”
Minister of Sports of Ukraine Vadim Gutzeit He talked about organizing sporting events in Ukraine during the war.
“The main idea we have had since the beginning of the war is the protection of sport. Of course, it was difficult to do this from the very beginning. But just in the spring, I met with the Prime Minister to have our athletes and national teams participate in tournaments and training camps. Today it is important that we keep all our sports teams.
We have world championship, European championship, world championship winners. Since the beginning of the war, our athletes have won more than two thousand medals. Sport is positive, it brings mood to people. The football championship in the country has begun, now the Ukrainian basketball championship will begin. I want more attention to the sport after our victory.”
“Audience? The main issue is safety. Will there be time and opportunity for everyone to go to the bunker during the alarm? The answer is obvious. Therefore, we decided that safety is the main thing. If there is an arrival, God forbid, then we close all the championships.
Does the postponement of the match between Dinamo and Metalist affect the start of the season in the Super League? There was anxiety this morning. There were three alarms yesterday. We will reschedule the matches, wait until the alarm goes off and start the matches. We will be in the shelter during the alarm. If the alarm continues for a long time, we will postpone the matches to the next day,” Gutzeit said at a press conference dedicated to the start of the new season of the Parimatch Super League.
