Rhapsody Howard and 19 threes for Baskonia before Olympiakos
A triple storm broke out in Vitoria tonight. Baskonia hit 19 3-pointers and defeated Red Star 92-75 in Game 3 of EuroLeague, two nights before the match against Olympiakos. Big star for Another Night is Marcus Howard, who finished on 30 points.
Baskonia, who scored 19/36 trebles against Red Star, will welcome Olympiakos in high spirits to prevail in EuroLeague Game 3 with a wide 92-75 and continue their unbeaten streak.
Marcus Howard had another terrible night, scoring 30 points (2/4 2 points, 7/12 3 points, 5/7 shooting) along with 3 rebounds and 2 turnovers in just under 25 minutes. Close and infallible from the district Darius Thompson, who scored 18 points (4/4 threes), 3 setbacks, 4 assists and 4 steals.
The race
The first half was particularly high-scoring, with Red Star showing attacking pluralism, having three players in double figures (Mitrovic, Dobric, Bedil) and Baskonia relying heavily on Marcus Howard’s talent and 19 points.
The five threes the Basques scored in the third quarter (the three from Dalton Homes) and the only 10 points conceded by red-white Belgrade made it 59-57 after 30 minutes. Momentum had of course changed hands and Juan Penaroya’s team ran a partial 33-18 in the last half to make the final 92-75.
