Ronen GINZBURG: “Let’s face one of the strongest teams in Europe”
Today, on October 26, “Prometheus” will play against Turkish “Bursaspor” in the Eurocup match in Riga. Prometheus head coach Ronen Ginzburg shared his expectations from the game as follows:
– First of all, I would like to ask about the match played against Brescia in Italy. What didn’t work there? And is it possible to fix these points in a week?
– We never had any success in the game with Brescia. We played well in the first half, but our defense was very bad. We had problems with their presses on offense. We’ve been working on it for a week. I hope it will be successful.
– On Saturday, Prometheus played the toughest match to date in the Latvian-Estonian League. Can we say that the test before the European Cup match went well?
– We just came back from the match in Italy and went to the match in Estonia on Saturday. I’m not sure the players focused on the game against Pärnu as much as possible, they were tired and made mistakes. The match in Estonia cannot be called a good preparation for us. After all, it’s a different league, a different level, the type of game is completely different from the game we’ll be covering on October 26th.
– Bursaspor has two Eurocup victories with the same score. They beat the Euroleague champions in the Turkish league yesterday. What can you say about our next competitor? What do you expect from the game?
– We will meet with one of the strongest teams in Europe. They have not lost yet, they defeated “Joventut”, one of the favorites of the tournament, and the Euroleague team “Anadolu Efes”. This is a great team. This is a big challenge for us, a tough opponent for us. However, with a responsible attitude towards this game, we can be a tough opponent for Bursaspor. If Bursaspor had played in the Euroleague this season, they would have been one of the top 5 top 7 there. This is a huge challenge for us. We’ll see if we can handle this.
