The Brooklyn Nets fired Steve Nash
The Brooklyn Nets are looking for a coach after announcing the firing of Steve Nash after just seven games into the 2022-23 season.
Chronicle of a Foretold Divorce… That could be the headline with the news that the Nets fired Steve Nash after just seven regular-season games. The Brooklyn team has two wins and five losses, with Zach Vaughn temporarily taking the helm until a replacement is found for the Canadian coach.
Nash was hired in the summer of 2020, while Kevin Durant requested a trade or release last summer. Not wanting to make up his mind, owner Joe Chai convinced KD to stay in Brooklyn, and in the end it was the veteran point guard who “paid for them.”
“Thank you to owner and GM Sean Marks for giving me the opportunity to coach the Brooklyn Nets. It has been an amazing experience with many challenges for which I am grateful. It has been a pleasure to work with these players and this team on a daily basis. Thanks to Brooklyn and his passionate fans for supporting the team. My family has found their home here. I wish the Nets every success, the Nash family will support you‘ was the message from the 48-year-old coach.
Nash never found a way to balance between the eccentric Kyrie Irving, James Harden and Kevin Durant, he was always the guy who gathered the fire and eventually he couldn’t take it. He reportedly immediately agreed to his release in order to relieve himself of what he has endured in recent years. One of the team’s targets is said to be the Boston Celtics’ suspended Ime Udoka, who won’t stand in his way should he agree to a deal with the Nets.
