Diamantidis for Panathinaikos: “We’ve been in a difficult situation for the last 1.5 years”
Dimitris Diamantidis explained on ERT that everything will be fine if Cyprus tries to take over a group in Eurobasket 2025, which will also be important for our national team. He also referred to the efforts and difficulties Panathinaikos is facing.
Dimitris Diamantidis spoke to ERT in relation to the game between Panathinaikos and Iraklis for the Stoiximan Basket League, citing his role in the Cyprus Basketball Federation and his efforts to become one of the Eurobasket 2025 clubs in Megalonisos.
The Director-General of the Cloverleaf emphasized that Cyprus’ efforts are on the right track and if they are successful, our country will also benefit.
Details of Dimitris Diamantidis to ERT: For his new role in the Federation of Cyprus: “Yes, the Federation of Cyprus is trying to finalize the organization of the Pan-European Union. An effort is being made that I was happy to accept, so let’s move on.
The decision should be made at the end of March. We’re hearing positive things about our efforts, we’re close. This is the first time Cyprus has claimed a part of this event. It will be important for our national team“.
For our national team to benefit from the Cyprus project: “In case the national team qualifies, Cyprus has the right to invite a team. It’s good for us that we’re home. We are two countries that are close. It will be nice for Cyprus if they qualify“.
For Panathinaikos: “For 1.5 years we have been in a difficult situation. We are a group trying to keep the team competitive. Last year we won the double. This year we would like to get better in the Euroleague, but we have 10-11 games to get better. “The championship is a goal, and of course the cup too.”
For the cup: “Of course, this is a goal that we must mark and want. We have to do good races. Don’t have other exogenous factors, I’m talking about coronavirus. We’re playing against a good team with a very good coach (Prometheus) and we hope to qualify well for the final“.
