Sanon won’t help. The Ukrainian national team has started preparations for the World Cup selection matches.
Ukraine men’s national basketball team to play their second qualifying round matches in November World Cup 2023. On 11 November, the national team in the city of Almere will play against the Dutch team, and on 14 November in Riga will host the Icelandic team.
On November 7, the assembly of the team began on the eve of the qualifying matches. There have been changes in the practice of the national team: defenders Issuf Sanon (Prometheus) and Alexander Kovlyar (Kalev) will not help the national team in the upcoming matches, both of them injured in the ankle. Also, playmaker Vitaly Zotov (VEF) is unable to join the team due to a groin injury.
The technical team called Budivelnyk defender Ilya Tyrtyshnik to the national team, led by Ainars Bagatskis, who played in the Kyiv-Basket last season.
Having played 6 matches in the 2023 World Cup qualifiers, the Ukraine team is ranked 5th in the Group L Points Table. The three best teams of the group are going to the World Cup. Each of the teams must play 4 games before the end of the selection.
