Stanislav MEDVEDENKO: “I will not participate in the election of the Chairman of the FBU”

Two-time NBA champion Stanislav Medvedenko He announced that he would not participate in the elections for the head of the FBU.

“Many people ask me if I can participate in the upcoming elections for the post of President of the Ukrainian Basketball Federation?

I will not participate in the 18.11.2022 elections.

Under these circumstances, I find it inappropriate to hold new elections that will determine the fate of Ukrainian basketball for many years to come. Why? Why?

Because there is an ongoing war, representatives of the basketball community are also involved in the defense of the country, many regions have been occupied, many coaches and players are now outside of Ukraine.

Yes, of course, I believe the current president of the Federation should resign due to the unsatisfactory results of his reign. And also how a person who is not a moral leader brings destructiveness with his actions, dividing the basketball family.

The general assembly must elect an independent substitute officer who can lead the Federation until the end of the war. Next, the basketball community must come together, create a demand for the future, discuss problematic issues and approve the direction of the entire basketball movement that the new president will implement with his team in collaboration with all regions.

The years when it was possible to monopolize all sports and impose their own concepts on everyone are long gone. Basketball won’t improve until we all start moving forward together. Take responsibility!

Anyone who will vote for the new ex-president of the Federation on November 18 should understand that they take personal responsibility for the development of basketball over the next few years!

Then you can’t complain that something went wrong, because you will be voting for an unknown development program in the coming years, which had already had the worst results during the years of independence,” Medvedenko said on Facebook.
