Vyacheslav KRAVTSOV: “Iceland is a very uncomfortable competitor for us”
The experienced center of the Ukraine national team, Vyacheslav Kravtsov, evaluated the match in which they beat Iceland 79:72 in the World Cup qualifiers:
“It was a tough match, Iceland is a very uncomfortable opponent for us. They are playing small ball with one big player. Our plan was to stop their defenders and we completely forgot about their “greats”. He had a good rhythm, the “paint” looked good too.
But overall we did a good job defensively. Offensive things weren’t as good as in the last game – we were trying to find easy shots, looking for players’ passes to get the rhythm.
A tough game but an important win, we still have a chance to qualify for the World Cup. We will fight to the end in the next window,” said Kravtsov.
The 35-year-old basketball player played for 17 minutes against Iceland and collected 13 points and 6 rebounds during this time.
