Final Four – Basketball Cup: For Kaselakis, everything will be judged by Panathinaikos
Dynamism in defense and patience in attack will be judged against Prometheus in Friday’s semifinals, according to Leonidas Kaselakis. The Panathinaikos player is delighted with the return of the Final Four.
Leonidas Kaselakis is confident that Panathinaikos’ performance will be judged in Friday’s semi-final (18/2 at 17:00) with Prometheus in the Greek Cup Final Four. The Greek striker was delighted that the tournament will end with such a mini-tournament for the first time in 18 years and emphasized that patience in attack and dynamism in defense are needed for the Greens to achieve their goal.
Details of what Leonidas Kaselakis said on the EEC site:
In your opinion, how big is the challenge for your team to take part in the final four of the cup?
“It is definitely an institution that Panathinaikos haunts every year. We also know that holding the Final Four after a long time gives the institution a different prestige. It is very important to us to achieve one of our goals“.
What do you think, where will the semifinals on Friday be counted?
“I think it’s clearly up to us. Prometheus are a very good side, but as we will have pressure from the favourites, we have to show our virtues on the floor. We have to be patient in attack and play very well in defense. I believe the result of the game will depend on our performance“.
What would a possible cup win mean for your team on Sunday?
“It will be something very important for the organization and the world of Panathinaikos. We know that we don’t have the course we want in the Euroleague this year, but we’re in the national goals. I think that achieving the first of the two will be very important because now there is an additional weight with the participation of Olympiakos. For the Panathinaikos world, the derby with Olympiakos is special and a presence in the final and winning the cup will be important for him“.
How do you see the fact that the cup is being held in the form of the Final Four for the first time in 18 years?
“We are really very happy about that. It was ugly not being able to host a Final 4 for the past few years. We hear the federation wants to organize a Final 8 next year, something we saw abroad and we were melancholic. It will be very important. My wish is for people to embrace it as long as protocols allow, and end up being the ones who will celebrate“.
