After the break given to the matches of the national teams, the competition in the European basketball cups starts again. Prometheus will be the first of two Ukrainian representatives to continue their fight in the continental arena, going to the Balkans, especially Slovenia, in the fifth round of the 2022/2023 European Cup. Rival “Prometheus” is a rare, if not unique, phenomenon in basketball Europe. Cedevita Olimpia was founded in June 2019 by combining two teams from different countries (Slovenian Olimpia and Croatian Cedevita) into one organization. Usually, such club associations take place on a state scale, and often one of them significantly exceeds the second in terms of budget or other characteristics. Here both teams had a rich history, championships won, Euroleague performances and the unity of the two teams was based on equal rights. The new club was called Cedevita Olympia and was headquartered in Ljubljana.

Olimpia and Cedevita were continental middle peasants in the last years of their separate history. So far the united club has occupied the same niche in basketball Europe. In the first years of its existence, the team did not win the Adriatic League (the strongest club tournament in the Balkans, you can say the championship of the countries of the former Yugoslavia in its modern form) and showed strong results in European competition. . The only thing the basketball players from Ljubljana managed to do was become the greatest in basketball in Slovenia (they have won the last two championships). However, this title was already given to a separate Olympia.

This season Cedevita Olympia is also not impressive yet. In the Adriatic League, the team won four out of six matches and lost two. Currently, the club is seventh in the standings with one game in hand. And in the European Cup, after the first part of the regular season, Prometheus’ opponent took the place of someone from outside the group. The Slovenian Grand was the only team in Group A that did not win even a single victory in four rounds.
