NBA: Chris Paul was injured and then sent off for falling on a referee
Chris Paul became the protagonist of an odd period in the Suns’ game against the Rockets after initially injuring himself during a non-foul period and then being sent off after a referee protested that a deliberate fall on him was possible.
The Suns’ win over the Rockets (124-121) was difficult and may come at a price. How big it will be remains to be seen in the near future.
Chris Paul went through an odd period in the second third of the game after seemingly injuring his right hand on one of his pass attempts. But that was just the beginning. The Suns leader was furious that the umpires had not called a foul on the phase and began to protest. He was then given a technical penalty, but that didn’t stop him from protesting further. And then it got… even weirder.
As Paul headed for the bench, he fell on the referee who gave him a technical penalty (JT Or) that appeared to be an oversight. But Or did not believe him who drove him out!
After the game ended, it was revealed that Paul would undergo magnetic resuscitation, with Phoenix not showing (at first) that he was worried about his injury. As for his expulsion? What happened happened.
