Zuros: “We came without training, we had miserable conditions”
Elias Zouros congratulated the Prometheus players on their performance in the semifinals against Panathinaikos after the game, saying that the Patras team was untrained due to the coronavirus cases.
Prometheus struggled but was eventually defeated by Panathinaikos (68-85) in the first semi-final of the Greek Cup Final Four, but Elias Zouros adored his players after the match.
The Greek coach explained that the Patras team actually went into the Final Four untrained due to the coronavirus cases, while some of them could not even walk.
Elias Zouros explained at length: “Congratulations to my players. I’m proud of my team, we came here without training because we didn’t really train after the game in Bursa. Two players played heroically after contracting coronavirus, with very weak immune systems and no strength.
I can’t express how I feel about children. We haven’t practiced in the last few days. We had miserable conditions, the children couldn’t walk.
The team fought, they were as focused as they could, but at some point your forces let you down and that leads to wrong decisions. Congratulations to the Panathinaikos team, congratulations to the EEC for organizing the Final Four and I wish you two more good games. Congratulations to Prometheus as well, as he has achieved the cup for another season so far, after the two finals this year in the Final Four”
