Hours before the Greek Cup final against Olympiakos, Panathinaikos coach Dimitris Priftis pointed to the uniqueness of a final but also the need for the greens on the ground to give their best.

Panathinaikos coach Dimitris Priftis spoke during the finals press conference about the importance of Panathinaikos showing a good defensive function but also about the differences the team has compared to Olympiakos.

He also stressed that it is important to find some key players on a good day, but also for the greens to do their best on the ground.

Dimitris Priftis’ statements are detailed:

“To play a good game and win the best. It’s going to be a nice game. For us it’s a good opportunity and we all want to be on the field together after we’ve done our best as a whole. It’s important to 3- 4 players in good days and show good defensive ability.

It’s a special match because it’s a game. The possibilities are different than a number of games. I wouldn’t say that we are an experienced team. We are a new team and we have differences with Olympiakos. Let’s not laugh it seems because of the position of the teams in the Euroleague and the basketball they play. We want to catch the standards of 5-10 good performances this season. There is an indicator in everything. It doesn’t matter what happened in the past, but compared to the last final between us, we don’t have such an experienced team.

For his part, Nemanja Nedovic said:

“We have a big final and I think everyone lives for these games. We will have a derby forever after a while and everyone is looking forward to it. We want to have fun, the difficult part is behind us and we hope to bring that A cup.”

Regarding his experience with the eternal derbies, Nedovic said: “My experience is nice but last year we couldn’t have the atmosphere of a derby. This year is different and it’s something you live for and play basketball for. We’re going to have as much fun as possible.”
