United League may invite foreign clubs to participate
The leadership of the VTB United League is discussing the possibility of inviting foreign clubs to participate in the tournament, League President Sergey Kushchenko told Sport24.
– Having lived until the New Year, we can say that the quality of basketball is maintained. We are trying to keep the international agenda. We have proposals from some foreign clubs, but they are in the process of communication.
Communication segment – friendly games in our country and on the territory of friendly countries, as well as consideration and invitation of some clubs to our competitions. This is also being discussed. What countries? We are in good communication with the Serbian clubs, communicated with the Turkish teams. But the Turkish league starts playing early, even friendly matches with them are difficult to plan. Nevertheless, we are considering and working on such issues so that they are on the table,” Kushchenko said.
Currently, Kazakhstan’s “Astana” and Belarusian “Minsk” are playing in the United League.
