Ponsarnau: “A game against Madrid is a challenge and we have to work together”
Surne Bilbao Basket coach Jaume Ponsarnau admits Tuesday’s game against Real Madrid will be the biggest difficulty I believe that both the locker room and the fans see it as a “challenge” that “players, coaches, and milibira must work together” to face.
“Tickets are almost sold out, and there is no doubt that both the team and the audience are excited. The important thing is that if we want to beat Madrid, we can’t do it on our own, so we all do it as a team,” the coach stressed at the pre-match press conference.
The Catalan has confirmed that Nico Radicevic is “not 100%” but has 12 free players in his team. He has been forced to ‘medicate’ him in the last few days of training due to physical problems at the end of last week’s European game against Nymburg.
Ponsarnau stressed that he is ready to play “against 100 per cent Madrid” starting in Bilbao after the Christmas break, in a “terrifying two weeks on the calendar”. Bring it to reach Milivila, theoretically turning the “men in black” into “victims”.
“The point is to make the most of the good moments we find, and for that we are spiritualizing ourselvesOn offense, the quality of your blocks is important and you play your shots with determination. And in defense, we try to keep them from feeling confident.”
However, Tárrega’s coach believes that Eddie Tavares, Europe’s most decisive player at a defensive level, and “a rivalry that has two of the most talented managers in Spanish basketball history alongside Raul Lopez”. It will be difficult to surprise ‘Ricky Rubio’, Sergio Rodriguez and Sergi Llull.
“We have to prepare ourselves to face great teams and try to take advantage of the moments when they don’t find inspiration.Nothing is conceptually definitive as it excels against any team. It’s more a matter of mentality,” Ponsarnau was affected.
