Continuing its efforts to improve the sport of basketball in the country, the EEC announces its new program called Big Greeks, under which it will seek out big kids across the country to train and establish a Greek School for Big Players .

Big bodies never were…only Greek basketball was outnumbered. This is even more true in recent years as the new EEC government intends to search the country for the next great players of Greek basketball.

The new administration of the federation announced that it would start a new program called “Big Greeks”. In this context, an attempt is being made to identify and promote athletes with special somatometric characteristics nationwide through selected coaches and scientists in order to create a new Greek school of great players.

The EEC plan not only provides for the identification and training of older children, but also wants to train the coaches of the teams in the use of new methods, but also the families of the athletes.

The EEC communication states in detail:

The Hellenic Basketball Federation is pleased to introduce its new program “Big Greeks” as a pillar of its development program and as part of its continuous enrichment.

The motivation for the implementation of the new program was the lack of promotion of quality players observed in recent years, in contrast to the past, when our country had a strong presence.
The purpose of the program is to identify and promote athletes with special somatometric characteristics, based on specific criteria and scientifically designed procedures. These processes create a reservoir of potential international athletes who are specifically trained in sport and technology. A new Greek school of great players!
The program will travel throughout Greece with the participation of selected trainers and scientists. Notably, the Big Greek program will not be limited to educating the participating talents, but will expand to educate the coaching community so they can be applied
all new methods in the training of the clubs, as well as in the education of the parents with regard to the psychological and nutritional care of the children”.
