Bagatskis took up a ministerial post in his native Latvia
Ainars Bagatskis, head coach of the Ukrainian men’s basketball team, became an adviser to the Minister of Sports in Latvia.
The 55-year-old Riga native joined the team of Anda Chakshi, head of the Latvian sports department.
As you know, Ainars Bagatskis was the head of the Latvian national basketball team from 2010 to 2017. At club level, he managed the clubs Zalgiris Lithuania, Daryushsafak Turkey, Broze Germany and Ukraine Kryvbassbasket, Budivelnik and Kyiv-Basket, among others. Currently, Bagatskis leads the national team of Ukraine and the Romanian “Voluntari” club.
In October 2022, the Latvian specialist extended his contract with the Ukrainian national team until the end of the 2023 World Cup qualifiers.
