Litkabelis – Prometheus. Prediction and announcement for the European Cup match

“Litkabelis” – “Prometheus” meeting will be held in Lithuania on Wednesday, January 11th. The fight begins at 19:00 Kyiv time. The match will be broadcast live by Xsport and Setanta Sports Ukraine TV channels.

After the New Year’s holiday, the struggles begin again in the second basketball European Cup. The second round of the regular season for Prometheus Slobozhansky will begin with a visit to Lithuania and more specifically the city of Panevezys, where the current champion of Ukraine will fight against local Litkabelis.

It was the match against the silver medalist of the last Lithuanian championship that opened a new page in the history of the Titans. On 12 October last year, Prometheus hosted Litkabelis in the first round match of the 2022/2023 European Cup. Despite his status as a debutant, Ronen Ginsburg’s wards put up a very good fight. Only in the first ten minutes the guests dominated the score, but towards the end of the first quarter Prometheus took the lead and again did not miss the lead. As a result, the last siren recorded the victory of the Ukrainian club – 82:71. Gian Clavell (20 points) and Caleb Agada (16 points + 7 assists) were the most productive players for Slobozhans.

Since then, “Litkabelis” has played eight more fights in which he alternated between successful and not so good results. The Lithuanian club enters the holiday break with four wins in assets and five losses in liabilities, making it eighth in the group and balancing on the border of the playoff zone. However, the intensity of the results in group A is so great that each round can significantly mix the teams in the standings.

Here are the results of Litkabelis’ first round matches of the 2022/2023 European Cup:

October 12. “Prometheus” (Ukraine) – “Litkabelis” (Lithuania) – 82:71

October 19th. Litkabelis (Lithuania) – Ratiopharm (Germany) – 80:76

October 26. Burg (France) – Litkabelis (Lithuania) – 86:73

November 2nd. Litkabelis (Lithuania) – Cluj-Napoca (Romania) – 89:84

November 22. “Venice” (Italy) – “Litkabelis” (Lithuania) – 74:71

30 November. Litkabelis (Lithuania) – Cedevita Olimpia (Slovenia) – 104:98

December 7th. Litkabelis (Lithuania) – Brescia (Italy) – 79:70

November 13. Bursaspor (Turkey) – Litkabelis (Lithuania) – 75:69

21 November Litkabelis (Lithuania) – Hoventut (Spain) – 76:90

After half the competition distance, the leaders of the Panevezys team are the players of the back row. American Jamel Morris is his club’s best sniper (average 14.4 points per game in the European Cup) and Estonian Kristian Kullamäe is second in average performance, but is also listed as the team’s first assist (12 points + 3.8 assists) international average ). One of the Lithuanian players, experienced Vytenis Lipkevichus shows himself well. Thanks to the 33-year-old forward, 9.6 points + 4.7 rebounds and the team’s best efficiency rating after the first round of the tournament – 13.7 points.

Both teams opened the next year with successful results. “Prometheus” warmed up to the two not-the-strongest Estonian teams in a dual journey within the LEBL. Rakvere Tarvas was defeated by a score of 95:66 and Tal Teh was defeated by Ronen Ginsburg’s wards with an even greater advantage – 115:82. In contrast, Litkabelis beat Juventus in the Lithuanian Cup in much more difficult matches – 85:81, and beat Jonava 86:84 in the national championship last Saturday. Currently, the rival of Prometheus is in fourth place in the Lithuanian championship – he has ten wins and five losses.

It should be noted that the composition of “Litkabelis” has not changed in comparison with the match in the first round. While the Prometheus roster changes dramatically. Dustin Hogue’s team is no longer in the frontcourt. But American tall James Dickey and Canadian playmaker Marek Klassen went to Lithuania, where the fight at Panevezys should be the first in the European Cup with the Titans jersey.

The match against Litkabelis will be very difficult for Slobozhans. The Lithuanians are a typical home team and have all four wins at home. However, with the team and individual skill level the overall ceiling of our team will clearly be higher. It is highly desirable for the Titans to win the game in Panevezys because it will be even harder for Prometheus to win in the next matches.

OFFICIALLY. Falcons return to Super League club on loan

“Kharkov Falcons” announced his return to the team Vyacheslav Kiktev.

The 23-year-old basketball player spent the first half of the season on loan at BC Zaporozhye.

As part of the Kazakhs, Kiktev was on the field for an average of 14:42 minutes per game and recorded 4.4 points and 3.0 rebounds.

“Due to the huge competition for the Pinterest position, I started loaning Vyacheslav to BC Zaporozhye in the summer. We had doubts about whether Slava would get enough playing time with the Falcons this season, especially considering the fact that he averaged only 10:41 minutes per game last year, even in the Major League. Under these circumstances, the loan from BC Zaporozhye was a consistent and balanced decision, and in my opinion, it was in Vyacheslav’s best interest. Luckily, the loan club was also in the interest of Vyacheslav.” BC Zaporozhye had almost no players in the center position and we knew that our player was guaranteed to get playing time.

A number of injuries in our squad necessitated the return of Vyacheslav Kiktev to the Kharkov Falcons. Due to lack of players, we have not been able to train five-on-five for more than a month. At the same time, the recovery period of players such as Dmitry Kleban, Nikita Bezima, Dmitry Martynov has also been postponed – at the moment we do not have specific information about when these players will fully return, at least to the training process,” Valery Plekhanov commented on the transfer.

Earlier, Valery Plekhanov summarized the team’s results for 2025 and talked about the preparations for the continuation of the season.

NBA changes betting policy amid scandals

The NBA sent a memo to league teams proposing stricter rules on injury reporting and betting because of federal charges in gambling cases involving current and former league officials. The purpose of the changes is to reduce the value of insider information and prevent manipulation of results.

The league is considering measures to prevent intentional losing, more frequent updating of injury reports and restrictions on betting on individual match events. Specifically, teams will be required to submit injury reports updated every 15 minutes on match day. It is also planned to expand gambling-related education programs, strengthen the protection of players and staff against pressure from bookmakers and improve the monitoring of suspicious activities.

In addition, the league plans to introduce discounts and restrictions on betting on individual player statistics, highlighting the need for greater control over the types of bets offered by bookmakers.
