Iceland caused the upset by beating Italy in second overtime (107-105) in the most ambiguous World Cup qualifying game at home on Thursday 24 February.
Trigvi Hlinsson inflicted the most damage on the Italian defense with 34 points and 21 rebounds, with Elvar Fredrickson (25 points, 7 assists) and Martin Hermanson (23 points, 7 assists) being worthy supporters.
Spain didn’t have a difficult time against Ukraine (88-74), in a game where what happened on Granada’s ground was of little importance. Elias Zouros’ Georgia impressed against North Macedonia (91-70) while France saw off Portugal (94-56).
