Magic Johnson explained what Hachimura will do to help the Lakers
The Lakers sent Kendrick Nunn to Washington for Rui Hachimura’s eyes, and Magic Johnson defended the pick for specific reasons.
The Lakers’ decision to send Kendrick Nunn and three future second-round draft picks to the Wizards for the eyes of (disillusioned in Washington) Rui Hachimura (24, 2.03) has been much debated. Whether such a step made sense and what it can give the Los Angeles team in the second half of the season.
Magic Johnson wanted to step in and have a say and support management’s decision in favor of the Japanese forward. “I like the trade for Rui Hachimura‘ he wrote in a first tweet, adding: ‘He’s long, athletic, and smart, but he needs to get harder on both ends of the floor“.
A few hours later he came back and added to his first post that “He will help the Lakers at both ends of the floor. He has an average of 13 points and his height and size will help us in defense“.
