Vassilis Spanoulis is preparing for his first game as a coach who will coach the team of selected players in the Adidas Next Generation tournament against the Serbian Mega. In statements on the team’s official site, “Kill Bill” spoke about the simple decision to retire, but also his love for basketball.
At the same time, he referred to his priorities, but also his desire to offer a lot to the sport.
“The decision to quit was relatively easy. I’ve had enough. I achieved everything I wanted, I made my dreams come true and maybe more. When you achieve the goals you set, you are happy, but sometimes it makes you lose motivation. I feel full and grateful for everything, but now I want to enjoy my life and start something new.
Basketball is in my blood. My family comes first and basketball follows. It’s something I love very much and I’ve been stuck with basketball like it’s been a virus since I was a kid. I want to give something back to basketball. I have a great desire to share my knowledge and experience. I don’t know yet, but I will definitely stay in basketball to give back what the sport has given me.
