The score in the Ethniki group: Greece are in first place after beating Turkey
Ethniki prevailed against Turkey at home and moved to the top of their group while their neighbors fell behind in last place.
Costas Papanikolaou’s composure at 3” in the end made all the difference in Ano Liossia’s thriller, with the 31-year-old forward’s 2/2 shots giving the National victory over Turkey.
Thanks to this result, our national team climbed to the top of the group and now has two wins in three games. On the other hand, Turkey had only one victory left and saw the task of qualifying for the next qualifying stage as a difficult one.

From the 2nd group, that of Ethniki, the first three teams advance, carrying the results to the next phase of qualification. Where a new group is formed along with the three Group A teams (Belgium, Serbia, Latvia, Slovakia) passing.
From the new group of 6 teams, the first three qualify for the World Championship. All results of the first phase (even with the excluded team) are carried over to the second.
