The story of the golden deal that Michael Jordan signed with NIKE in 1984 unfolds on the big screen: On April 5, the film “Air” celebrates its premiere.
On April 5, 2023 “Air” will be released, the film by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, which tells the story of the beginning of Michael Jordan’s collaboration with NIKE in 1984 and the giantization of the brand thanks to Air Jordan.
After the world premiere, the film will be available on Prime Video via Amazon in 240 countries and territories around the world.
The cast includes some very familiar names. Ben Affleck will play NIKE co-founder Phil Knight, while Matt Damon will play NIKE executive Sonny Vaccaro, who reportedly played a key role in this huge deal.
Viola Davis will play Jordan’s mother, Deloris, while MJ’s father, James Jordan, will be played by Julius Tennon.
We’ll also see Jason Bateman as Rob Strasser, Matthew Maher as Peter Moore and Marlon Wayans as George Raveling, three other NIKE executives credited with the Jordan deal.
Jordan will be a mythical character who will constantly hover over the film, but one we’ll never see, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
