Kalnietis was idolized by Zalgiris and his fans in his last game
Zalgiris lost at home in the last game of Mantas Kalnietis’ career. The 36-year-old Lithuanian security guard was idolized when he said goodbye.
The last game of his career was played by Mandas Kalnietis, who put his team’s well-being ahead of his own and decided to leave before the end of the current season in order not to burden Zalgiris with his contract.
The 36-year-old guard bid farewell in the match of the 17th match of the Lithuanian championship, in which Zalgiris unfortunately lost for him and for the club to Jonava (76-80). In the 20’41” that Kalnietis played, he had 5 points (1/3 twos, 1/3 trebles), 1 rebound, 3 assists and 3 errors.
But the most important thing is that he was universally adored by Zalgiris fans, but also by his teammates and coaches, and he couldn’t hide his emotions.
