According to Lithuanian Sportish, Zenit’s Gudaitis and Kuzminskas, as well as CSKA Moscow’s Grigonis, have decided to leave Russia and their teams due to the war situation in the wider region.
The Russian military intervention in Ukraine and the state of war in the wider region have caused great unrest in the sport of Russia and surrounding countries. According to Sportish, Gudaitis and Kuzminskas from Zenit and Grigonis from CSKA Moscow have decided to leave Russia and their teams.
In fact, Grigonis was already under pressure to leave CSKA Moscow and Russia.
The same list appears to include Lithuania coach Kazis Maksvitis, who works in Russia, alongside the three players.
According to Sportish, there have been no announcements yet, but players have been in talks with the EuroLeague Players’ Association (ELPA), as well as with the EuroLeague and FIBA over the past few days about the possibility. However, according to the article, the players are determined to leave Lithuania and return to Lithuania.
