Red Star – Fenerbahce 74-69: Too Hard to Die
Impressively dynamic for another night, Red Star saw off Fenerbahce 74-69 and put even more stone on their way to EuroLeague eighth.
He’s not chasing anything important, but he fights every game at 101% of his power. Or he’s fighting tooth and nail to stay in the octavorbit in a highly competitive season. Red Star and Fenerbahce put up a great fight in a postponed EuroLeague game 19 game on Sunday night (27/02) with the Serbs claiming victory (74-69) in yet another night their people should idolize .
At 10:15 Asteras (6:6 at home and 4:9 away), at 12:12 Fenerbahce, Anadolu Efes (13:12), Unics Kazan (13:12) and Monaco (14:13) chase after them to pass the playoffs and continue qualifying for the tournament’s Final Four with a full roster.
The race
With his… classic dynamic, Asteras took an early lead (7-0), bet hard on Fenerbahce, touched the ball to the racquet, finished the quarter at 20-18 and took an eight-point lead at the start of the second (26- 18) and closed the twenty minutes at the wheel, at a time when the Turks had 50% in two points, 4/11 three points but also just one error that helped them stay close without offering easy points host in surprise.
Fenerbahce’s counterattack took place in the third period, but it was clear that the game would be a thriller and be judged in detail in the final. Kalinic shot to 72-69 at 81″, Guduric then made a mistake, Polonara was cut near the basket and Walters made the big basket for the +5 that couldn’t be knocked over.
THE REFEREES: Pereth, Rossi, Zamoisky
THE TEN MINUTES: 20-18, 41-37, 59-60, 74-69
