Celtics beat Sixers in East Derby but lose Jaylen Brown
Losing Horford, Smart and Robert Williams against the Sixers, the Celtics lost Jaylen Brown early to a slap in the face, but that didn’t matter as they still managed to clinch a 106-99 win.
The Celtics showed their teeth – once again. The “Celts” went without 3/5 of their starting five (Marcus Smart, Al Horford, Robert Williams) and lost early in the game to Jaylen Brown with a facial injury. Despite this, they managed to win 106-99 and remain comfortably at the top of the East.
On a night when Jayston Tatum was limited to 12 points (on 5/15 shooting), the Celtics saw their depth make the difference, with Malcolm Brogdon and Derrick White on 19 points each and Blake Griffin and Grant Williams on 15 points contributed. The last two even had 9/14 threes together!
With the Sixers missing a golden opportunity for a key win, Joel Embiid had 28 points and James Harden had 26 points and 11 assists, but no other player competed.
