The fight for the euro continues. Ukraine women’s national team beat Finland
Ukraine women’s national team held the penultimate match of the EuroBasket 2023 qualifying tournament. In Riga, the “blue-yellows” met with a foreigner of group B, the Finnish team.
The first quarter passed in an equitable struggle. Our basketball players were not successful in many things, but the opponents also sinned with mistakes. Alina Yagupova, the leader of the Ukrainian team, who was not included in the game and scored only two points in the first 10-minute period.
But meanwhile, Yagupov’s second quarter, which celebrates his birthday today, started off with an accurate long-range shot. Finnish national team basketball players kept the small difference for a while, but the teams left for the big break with the “+10” superiority of the Ukrainians.
And in the third quarter, the Finns’ game completely broke down, and the “blue-yellows” repeatedly made fruitful attacks. Before the final quarter, the Ukrainians removed the question of the winner of the match and relaxed a bit in the last ten minutes, which allowed the Finns to narrow the gap a bit.
On Sunday, the Ukrainian team will face the Lithuanian team. We will talk about the pre-match announcements and the chances of our basketball players going to the EuroBasket before the final match.
