Dimitris Agravanis on SPORT24: “We are proud of our country”
Speaking to Sportish, Dimitris Agravanis said he was proud of Greece after beating Turkey in Istanbul for the first qualifying phase of the World Cup.
The Greek national team took an important step towards qualifying for the second round of FIBA World Cup qualifiers after their 67-76 win over Turkey in Sinan Erdem Dom.
One of the protagonists of the “Official Favourites”, o Dimitris Agravanisspoke exclusively Sportish and expressed his and his teammates’ pride in bringing joy to the Greeks with their victory. At the same time, he stressed that Greece won the game because they managed to stay focused throughout the game and of course, overcame fatigue.
“We are proud to have all come here together. We got over the tiredness, we stayed focused throughout the game and really got a win that brought great joy to all of Greece, but also to us players.
We thank the people who were by our side today and the whole world in Greece from the bottom of our hearts. We play for them and we are proud of our country‘ the Greek striker told Sportish.
Dimitris Agravanis was the game’s MVP as he scored two big threes in the last five minutes and cleared for Greece, putting the pressure on the opposition side. The 27-year-old finished the game with 22 points (with 5/11 two points, 4/7 three points, 0/1 shot), 11 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 errors and 1 steal in 32’12” involvement.
