The voluntary blood donation and all the parallel actions on the sidelines of the Final Eight of the Greek Cup OPAP
The EEC shows its social face and organizes a number of parallel actions, such as a voluntary blood donation and a visit to the Special Primary School of Heraklion, on the margins of the Final Eight of the OPAP Hellenic Cup.
EEC took the opportunity to combine the OPAP Hellenic Cup Final Eight with a series of actions and events that benefit society as a whole and the central motto #einaigiorti in #eingiortigiaolous.
Voluntary blood donation
On Saturday, 02/18, from 09:30 to 14:00, a voluntary blood donation will be held at the Loggia point in the center of Heraklion in collaboration with the Pancretic Association of Voluntary Blood Donors “AimatoKretis” under the auspices of the National Blood Donor Center.
Attended the 1st Special Primary School of Heraklion
The visit will take place on February 17th. at 10.00 am by the staff of UNICEF Greece and the staff of the EEC in the presence of the Secretary General of the Hellenic Basketball Federation, Nikos Nikolopoulos, and Sophocles Schortsanitis.
Event on Human and Children’s Rights at the Hellenic Mediterranean University
A special event will be held on February 17 at 4:30 p.m. in the “Wooden Amphitheater” of the Hellenic Mediterranean University Social Medicine. The theme of the conference, in collaboration with the LaHeRS Laboratory, will be “The Protection of Children’s Rights in the Modern Era: Challenges, Institutional Frameworks, Social Partner Partnerships”., the Department of Social Work of the Hellenic Mediterranean University and the support of UNICEF GREECE.
Actions to raise public awareness of motor and sensory disabilities
In the outdoor area of the New CG Heraklion in Dyo Aorakia, on February 19 at 16:00 of the Hellenic Basketball Federation in collaboration with the 1st Special Primary School of Heraklion, the Department of Social Work, the Laboratory of Health and Traffic Safety of The Hellenic Mediterranean University and a team of experienced volunteers will create a variety of awareness-raising activities for people with motor and sensory disabilities in the central entrance atrium, outer doors 2 and 3.
- There will be booths and constructions where people can simulate various disabilities with their help and guidance, such as:
- A special blackout booth will be set up, in which there will be a projector showing videos with daily stories about difficulties faced by people with disabilities, as well as achievements of disabled athletes.
- There will be face painting for kids and fans and spread the #EinaiGiortiGiaOlous message
- People with various disabilities will be present to interact with the world.
In addition, three tactile representations of a basketball court were built, allowing three blind people to follow the game with the help of their escorts and specialized Braille interpreters.
