Vladimir KONEV: “I did not think that the Bagatskys would call me”
Budivelnyk’s 33-year-old striker became the only player from the Super League in the national team squad for the final matches of the World Cup qualifiers. Ainars Bagatskis last called Vladimir Konev to the national team in 2018.
“The call to the national team was unexpected for me. I didn’t think the Bagatskys would call me. I’m going to the team in a good mood. Of course I am very proud to defend our colors! And of course I hope to save time on the field and help the team.
I don’t know who will be your favourite, us or Italy? Does not interest me. The mood is to go out and win,” Konev said.
Recall that the national team of Ukraine will complete the selection for the 2023 World Cup with an away game against Italy on February 23 and a home match against the Netherlands on February 26 in Riga. Two wins are a prerequisite for our team to enter the World Cup.
