Prometheus in men and women is the only representative of Ukraine in Europe

Prometey is the only Ukrainian team that, despite the war situation in the country, continues to fight with the Russian invasion and holds up the Ukrainian flag.

In times of war in Ukraine and runners-up sport, Prometheus is the only team that continues to consistently meet their European commitments at both men’s and women’s level. The team from Ukraine competes in the “8” stage of the EuroCup women and traveled to Turkey to face Yenisehir in the second game, while the men also face Cluj in the 3/3 for the Basketball Champions League Czech Republic (the seat they use temporarily).

With a view to their country and the situation there, the Prometheus athletes are called upon to forget the war in Ukraine for 40 minutes and devote themselves entirely to basketball. As difficult as this may sound, Ukrainian teams intend to do so as women who travel to Turkey do not know they will return home.

In fact, at the first game in Plovdiv, Bulgaria (the seat of Prometheus), the team’s basketball players all held up the (foreign and non-)Ukrainian flags, while many of them could not hold back their tears as they applauded the world, strength and fortitude they showed as they fought.

Prometheus lost in the first match with Yenisehir with 86-67 and the task in Turkey is by no means easy. Of course, the athletes of the Ukrainian team cannot clearly focus on basketball because of the great concern for their families and what they left in Ukraine.

When they return to Ukraine remains unknown to the Prometheus athletes, but the fortitude they displayed during their trip to Turkey is what stands out.
