Kovlyar became the 11th player of the Ukrainian national team to play for the first time under the leadership of Bagatskis.
Oleksandr Kovlyar made his debut for the Ukraine national team in the 2023 World Cup qualifiers against Italy (75:85).
The defender entered the field 4:23 minutes before the end of the fourth quarter. He scored 3 points (1 out of 2 3-pointers) and provided 1 assist.
It is worth noting that during the studies of Ainars Bagaskis, Kovlyar became the 11th new player of the Ukrainian national team. Previously, Vitaly Zotov, Alexei Belikov, Anatoly Shundel, Andrey Voinalovich, Vladislav Korenyuk, Dmitry Skapintsev, Ivan Tkachenko, Artem Kovalev and Ilya Tyrtyshnik made their debut for the national team under the guidance of the Latvian coach.
Recall that the Ukrainian team, losing to Italy, lost the chance to enter the final part of the World Cup.
