“Tomorrow” is more important to Panathinaikos than “today”.

Panathinaikos showed themselves at the Mediolanum Forum in a game where image counted much more than result, rising to the occasion. But that doesn’t really mean anything. “Tomorrow” is more important for the entire organization than “today”. Alexandros Trigas writes.

The outcome of the Mediolanum Forum was of minor (substantial) importance to Panathinaikos. An organization that has suffered so much over the last two and a half years, which has culminated this year, cannot stay in a fight but look for a way to get out of it all and start a new path.

Christos Serelis’ words after the end of the game are true to reality. The “winning team” and the “mentality” they mentioned explain what has to change in the long term in the competitive divisions so that Panathinaikos can once again directly compete against the “top teams” of the EuroLeague” in recent years.

How can this happen; Not necessarily with a leap into the annual budget, but – basically – with a trainer who can lead, collect, inspire. Namely with one of those who can really be the “face” of the club.

The mood was unique

The way the players approached the game against Armani Milano fails to impress. Everything else. After the manager is fired, players must step up to prove they weren’t the biggest problem – whether that’s the case or not.

Intellectually, the Greens – few due to absenteeism – got a good mark. They showed a willingness to fight in defensive rebound, to come out “from the front” of any disagreement at the low post, not to take anything too easy on the opponent. Things they haven’t done in the vast majority of games this year – for many and varied reasons.

As of now, however, they are in the frame. They (are) judged more severely. With everything that goes with it.

The riddle doesn’t change

Of course, it is not enough to change the mood overall and to differentiate the path on which Panathinaikos (will) go for a long time to come. That’s the problem. At the competitive level, the beans remain counted in relation to the Basket League. The only change remaining until the end of the regular season seems clear is that it will slowly be used to have the security (sic) of being able to react to a possible injury problem.

Opera and it means Panathinaikos cannot dream that once Dejan Radonić is removed from the technical lead, everything will take its course. After all, he wasn’t responsible for all the problems at the club. He was simply being asked to handle (much) more than his fair share and found himself deadly fast in a dead end.

dignity in the foreground

So what’s left for the rest of the EuroLeague? Would. All. Because even if it seems impossible for Panathinaikos – by picture – to enter the group of teams that are ahead of him at the given moment with two or more wins, it hurts a lot if Panathinaikos finishes last or penultimate in place. Bad for everyone.

Much more with a background of psychology and confidence in the Basket League postseason. From now on, every game will be a small occasion to organize the situation on a psychological level and everyone will feel again that they can still save something from this season. At least in terms of impressions.

“Tomorrow” more important than “today”

All this while Panathinaikos is still searching for the man they will all lean on. The trainer who leads, who inspires, who gives vision and mobilizes the world. The bottom line is that for Panathinaikos, “tomorrow” is more important than “today”.
