THE Sotiris Manolopoulos He could only be amazed by the performance of his players in the game against the Serbs. Victory was one thing, overall response to the demands of the game was another, so the people who went to the closed Ano Liosia and enjoyed a fight to the end were also satisfied.
“I want to say a huge thank you to the fans, they helped us a lot, they gave us a lot of energy and we never gave up.
For me it’s a great thing to see the stadium full when the national team is playing, it’s very important that the Greeks come to see this team.
I’m proud of my players, they believed in winning and never gave up. They put in a lot of effort and that’s why we won. We only had four days of training but the guys worked really hard. We are a new team with many new faces“.
Muratos: “All the children gave everything they had”
The international players were represented by Vasilis Muratosas the leader of the blue and white team.
“It is a great victory for Greek basketball to play in a crowded court with many children. It is a great honor and additional motivation for us. It didn’t matter that we had already qualified, we know how big opponents Serbia are and we respect that a lot.
All the guys gave it their all and we managed to come back even though we were -13 behind. It was a huge win and everyone deserves congratulations“.
