Defeats bring trouble and in Monaco, tensions between Saša Obradovic and Mike James flared dangerously just before the final game against Barcelona at the Palau Blaugrana.
Even on an average night for his class, Mike James (14 points, 6/9 2 points, 0/3 3 points, 2/2 shots) has proven many times over that the game changer role fits him like a glove. With his own personal points, Monaco found themselves in the driving seat at the Palau Blaugrana (62-65) before the tide finally and irrevocably tilted in Barcelona’s favour. (80-70).
At 1:50 before the final, Corey Higgins stabbed “the knife” into the heart of the French defense (76-65), confirming Barca’s victory. An exasperated James threw the ball hard into backcourt and when Saša Obradović hastily called for a time-out, he made a switch with the Serbian coach.
After the match, Obradovic was questioned by French journalists about the incident, but he wanted to put out the fire immediately: “I don’t want to comment on that. It is an internal matter and we handle it internally.”
