These are the 26 teams in the Basketball World Cup and the hunt for the last six tickets
Six tickets for the Basketball World Cup are still open, as we know on Sunday (02/26) that 26 of the 32 teams will travel to the Philippines, Indonesia and Japan.
The schedule for the Basketball World Cup, which will take place from August 25th to September 10th in the Philippines, Indonesia and Japan, is set.
Georgia was defeated by Iceland (77-80) but qualified thanks to the aggregate +/-, while Montenegro slightly “overtook” the Czech Republic and left Bosnia behind. Cape Verde and Senegal were the last two teams from Africa, while six teams from America will be battling for five tickets in the early hours of Monday (27/2).
Venezuela (hosts Canada), the Dominican Republic and Argentina, playing together in Mar del Plata, are the three remaining teams in Group E, while Puerto Rico (vs Colombia), Mexico (vs Uruguay) and Brazil (hosts USA) are the others three are contenders for Group F. The top three and top fourth teams from the two Americas groups qualify.
Finally, a ticket to Europe remains open. If Serbia beats Britain, they will get it. If they lose and Belgium beats Turkey, the Belgians will travel to oral basketball.
The teams that qualified for the World Cup
- From Europe: Latvia, Germany, Finland, Italy, Slovenia, Greece, France, Spain, Lithuania, Georgia, Montenegro
- From America: Canada, United States
- From Asia/Oceania: Lebanon, New Zealand, Australia, China, Jordan, Iran, Philippines*, Japan*
- From Africa: Ivory Coast, South Sudan, Egypt, Angola, Cape Verde, Senegal
*Japan and the Philippines have been eliminated from the qualifying process as host countries, while Indonesia, despite hosting, will not take part in the World Cup after failing to finish in the top eight of the Asian Cup.
