Aris – Peristeri bwin 78-83: Stayed up in Thessaloniki in an episodic game of three and a half hours

In an episodic game that was suspended for 70 minutes and also included the clearance of the pitch, Peristeri bwin was better in detail and took the win at the house of Aris (83-78).

Aris’ match against Peristeri bwin lasted more than three hours before Vassilis Spanoulis’ team won in Thessaloniki (83-78). The reason; The seventy-minute stoppage after the spit was awarded to the game’s first referee, Vaso Tsarouha. A step that led, among other things, to the evacuation of the stadium.

As for the race part, Peristeri bwin had +15 at the end of the third period but saw Aris coming back stronger and closing the difference with 1’40” to go. Accuracy off the line and control of rebounds proved enough to secure the lead for the visitors, who still made it 2/2 against Yannis Kastritis’ team and built a clear lead to take the worst case scenario go the top six of the Basket League after the conclusion of the regular season.

Marcus Denmon was the top scorer for the winners (24 points on 5/14 shooting and 10/11 field goal shooting), but he mostly made the shots in the finals while Jay DiNotte did his best to manage the situation for Aris to tack and finish the night with 37 points on 9/10 2-pointers, 4/10 3-pointers and 7/7 shooting.

The race

From the start, two elements dominated the Nick Galis Hall floor: passion in both defense and errors. The home team quickly took the lead thanks to Homeri Netzipoglou’s 2/3 three (12-7 in 5′), but little by little Peristeri bwin leveled the situation, taking advantage of Chavez Goodwin’s absence near the basket.

The first quarter ended in “X” (19-19), with Aris maintaining a small lead early in the second third before the visitors’ breakout came from 15′ to 17′ of the game, making +6 (26 -32) for the team of Vassilis Spanoulis.

Superiority in rebounds (18 to 13) and two-pointers (11/17 to 4/13) even helped them stay ahead until the break (35-39), with Peristeri bwin capable and poised for their second win of the year his appeared on mars.

The superiority of the guests became even clearer in the third third, when Aris couldn’t win much over most of his main players. DJ Notte appeared on the execution side but was hopelessly alone as Vassilis Spanoulis watched Sylvain Francisco and Ian Hammer dominate. Somehow Peristeri bwin managed to extend the lead, with +15 (47-62) being the maximum in the 30th minute.

Aris’ attempt to reverse the situation took place early in the fourth quarter (again thanks to DJ Note) but was interrupted by Vassos Tsarouha’s decision, along with the other two referees (Manos Tsolakos, Giorgos Katrachouras) and the clearing of the field to ask.

Something that lasted 70 minutes before teams returned to the pitch to resume play. The big (big) break hit Peristeri bwin more than Aris, as shown by the home side quickly cutting further. In fact, they came within striking distance with 1’40” to go (72-73).

However, Marcus Denmon’s 4/4 shots in the ensuing seconds made the difference for Peristeri bwin, keeping them ahead through to the final and ultimately giving them victory in Thessaloniki.

Jokic may lose his chance to compete for NBA MVP award

Denver Nuggets announced Nikola Jokic He will miss at least four weeks due to left knee hyperextension.

The Serb is expected to miss all 18 matches in January and his maximum appearances this season could be limited to 64 matches. So Jokic will lose the opportunity to compete for the NBA’s main prizes – MVP and inclusion in the All-NBA, as this requires playing at least 65 games in the regular season.

Theoretically, he could return for the January 31 game against the Brooklyn Nets, which would give Nikola the opportunity to play 65 games before the end of the season, but that scenario is unlikely.

Jokic was injured in the last seconds of the first half of the match against Miami Heat (123:147) and did not return to the field after a long break. Before his injury, he managed to score 21 points, 8 assists and 5 rebounds in just 19 minutes.

Jokic averaged 29.9 points, 12.4 rebounds and 11.1 assists per game this season.

Cherkasy Mavp Captain: “I am not very happy with the team’s result”

Leader and captain of “Cherkasy Mavp” Kirill Marchenko summarized the first part of the season for the team.

– Kirill, the team has entrusted you with the captain’s armband. What does this mean to you and when did you learn about this decision?

– First of all, it is responsibility and, to some extent, experience. I learned that at the first training after the departure of Andrei Agafonov, the coach said that we need a new captain. The men chose me.

I won’t hide it, I was ready for this. I had a feeling that I would now be the captain of the team.

– Agafonov was a very strong leader both on the field and in the locker room. Which of his approaches and principles would you like to bring to your role as captain?

– Yes, indeed, Andrei was a very important figure in our team, on the field and in the locker room. I definitely think it’s discipline and professionalism.

– The first half of the season is over. How do you evaluate this period as a team?

– I’m not very happy with the team’s result. I know we are capable of doing more. Of course, Andrei’s dismissal had an impact, but this is not an excuse. We have to go out and do our job.

– There were a few games where the Mavps lost their advantage during the game. What do you think is still missing from the team to consistently win such matches?

– Yes, there were many matches where we lost while we were ahead with 2-3 minutes left in the match. I think I just lacked basic concentration, maybe a bit of luck.

– The team completed its campaign in the Ukrainian Cup after the first match. How painful was this relegation process for the players?

– Every lost game hurts. Of course, it was sad to be eliminated after the first match, we wanted to win and make it to the Final Four. “Hoverla” took its revenge last year. We beat them in the first game of the cup bubble in Cherkasy last season, maybe that was their additional motivation.

– The season is in full swing, but the New Year holidays are approaching. Can the team regroup a bit?

– I think we will have 2-3 days off to start again. Maybe someone will see family and friends. This is also important for morale.
