The Ukrainian national team will play in the qualifying round for the 2024 Olympics in August.
In August, the national basketball team of Ukraine will play in the qualifying round of the Olympic selection for the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
16 teams will play there, 12 of which are teams that qualified for the second qualifying round of the 2023 World Cup but did not qualify for the World Cup. These are Ukraine, Iceland, the Netherlands, Hungary, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Czech Republic, Sweden, Israel, Estonia, Turkey, Belgium and the United Kingdom. Four more teams should be added based on the FIBA rating.
The format of the FIBA selection phase needs to be announced soon, but it is known that 16 teams will compete for only 2 tickets to next year’s Olympic qualifying tournament. The draw for the qualifying round is expected at the beginning of May, and the matches are expected to be held on 12-20 August 2023.
In early August, the qualifying draw for EuroBasket 2025 will also be drawn. The qualifying matches are scheduled to be played at FIBA on November 20-28, 2023, February and November 2024, and February 2025.
Recall that the national team of Ukraine does not yet have a coach. Ainars Bagatskis, who served in the Blue-Yellows for 3.5 years, left the team after the World Cup qualification.
