NBA, Irving on Boston disapproval: ‘She’s like a girl I turned down and she’s asking me to explain’
Kairi Irving used a particular way of characterizing Celtics fans’ disapproval of his return to Boston as an opponent.
Three years ago, Kyrie Irving left the Boston Celtics for the Nets, and that’s something the Boston public hasn’t forgiven. On every occasion, the Celtics’ friends disapproved of them in the match against the Nets, finding a particular way of characterizing it.
In statements after the game, he didn’t hesitate to compare the fans who disapproved of him to “a girl who has been turned away and asks for explanations but is still waiting for a message”.
“I know it’s going to be like this every time in Boston until the end of my career. She’s like a girl who has been rejected and asks me to explain why I left her, but she’s still waiting for a message. These behaviors make it enjoyable and the truth is that “it’s been nice while it lasted and I’m grateful for what I went through here in Boston. I have relationships with everyone in the organization and we’re still in Contact. I respect them and I’m glad to be here. However, I’m trying not to start a dialogue with the fans.”
