Priftis: “We played with unorthodox teams”
Dimitris Priftis called the schemes he used during the game with Ionikos unorthodox given the problems.
The many problems in the periphery forced Dimitris Priftis to clearly differentiate the tactical approach in the game with Ionikos. The Panathinaikos OPAP coach started with Leonidas Kaselakis at 2 and Okaro White at 3 to fill in the existing gaps. He did after the end of the game.
“It was a game of special conditions for us, we went down with the squad. As you can see, we have constant problems with injuries and the coronavirus. Unfortunately, this has led to a shortage of guards. Today we played with a lot of different teams, a bit unorthodox. So maybe our operation wasn’t very good. In the end we played well in defence, I think we dominated defensively. If I’m not mistaken, we only conceded 7 points. That was the key. The children really tried their best, I would like to congratulate them on that. Ionikos was very competitive and played very well“said initially the coach of Panathinaikos OPAP.
When asked about Lefteris Mantzoukas’ performance, he replied: “He was good enough, he put in a decisive shot. He was sure he had to play in these games. He was called to help the team and he did. We only had a player and a half on the ace, which isn’t a pure ace. Leonidas Kaselakis starred in “2” and Okaro White in “3”. We were only good in “5”. I hope we are safe on the road“.
