Prometheus – Burg. Prediction and announcement for the European Cup match

“Prometheus” – “Burg” meeting will be held in Riga on Wednesday, March 15. The fight begins at 7:00 pm Kyiv time. The match will be broadcast live on Xsport and Setanta Sports Ukraine+ TV channels.

After yesterday’s Budivelnyk game, this week’s Ukrainian-French basketball club game will continue with the match between Slobozhansky Prometheus and Burg in the sixteenth round of the 2022/2023 European Cup group stage. But this fight will not only matter under the tutelage of Ronen Ginzburg. The French club remains the only team in the season in all tournaments (of course, among those whose calendar has been reduced) that the current champion of Ukraine has not yet beaten this season.

The tutelage of Frederic Fotu, the famous basketball player of the last period, started the season as a “dark horse”, but thanks to six wins in the seven opening matches of the tournament, it moved to the number of clubs that achieved a serious final result. In the future, “Burg” slowed down and won only twice in the next eight meetings. However, a quick start allowed the French to secure a spot ahead of schedule in the playoffs.

The first round match between today’s opponents was played in France on 6 December and ended with the home team’s victory in overtime – 92:85. The game turned out to be very difficult for both Prometheus and Burg. Starting from the end of the second ten-minute period, the score on the scoreboard at the end of the game segments was always equal – 37:37, – 56:56 and – 77:77. So it’s quite logical that teams don’t have enough time to determine the winner. It is worth noting that for both clubs this is the only game so far in the current European Cup where they have had to spend an extra five minutes.

The leaders of the “Burg” are American defender Jordan Floyd (14.6 points per game in the international arena, productivity rating – 15.0) and compatriot striker James Palmer (15.4 points, efficiency rating – 16. 5). At the same time, Jordan Floyd failed to score a single point in that match against Prometheus. But for James Palmer, the first-round match with Ronen Ginzburg’s men was on the contrary one of the best games of the season (23 points + 9 rebounds).

In today’s match, Slobozhan team tall James Dickey should have increased motivation. The American was from the French club where Prometheus had moved to during the season. In the first round match, Dicky did not enter the game application, but now he has a chance to show himself in all his glory in front of his former employers.

The defeat in France on December 6 last year is currently the last for the current champions of Ukraine this season. Since then, “Prometheus” has played a total of 26 matches in the European Cup and the Latvian-Estonian Basketball League and won them all. A series like this in itself deserves respect, but today the tutelage of Ronen Ginzburg can not only expand it, but also put it in the loop, so to speak. We will find out next evening whether the Ukrainian club will achieve this result or whether the French Burg will be the most uncomfortable opponent for Slobozhans this season.
