One step away from a great comeback. Budivelnik lost to Cholet in the European Cup
Kiev “Budivelnik” played a return match with “Cholet” in the 1/4 final of the European Cup. In the first match, the people of Kiev defeated their opponents with a score of 73:72, but could not gain a practical advantage in the match in France.
In the first quarter, the visiting team imposed a struggle against their opponents and gained a slight advantage for a long time. However, the end of the first quarter was left to the fielders who made a breakthrough before entering the second ten-minute period and secured a five-point lead.
The match coincided with the second quarter. But at the start of the third ten-minute period, the French had a strong yawn and the score grew relentlessly in their favour. The Kievans constantly allowed their opponents to shoot “open” shots from the back of the bow, and the French could not miss from the perimeter. In the fourth quarter, the French mustered up their courage and the visiting team completely spoiled the game on offense. Cholet’s advantage was 20 points in the middle of the fourth ten-minute period.
The question of the winner of the confrontation seemed to have already been removed. Berganemeskel was also injured while leaving the area with the help of his partners. The French believed too much in their victory and the difference in score began to shrink. Two minutes into the end of the fourth quarter, after a long-range shot from Gritsak, the Cholet coaching team took a time-out, but that didn’t help the French. 16 seconds before the siren, Bobrov scored three points, narrowing the lead to two points. The miracle was so close! But unfortunately the people of Kiev could not save the meeting.
Budivelnik is leaving the current FIBA Europe Cup.
