Almost a champion. Budivelnik almost won the Ukrainian championship
On Friday, March 17, at the start of home matches in the Basketball Super League, Budivelnik from the capital defeated Cherkasy Mavps 91:70. This victory allowed Dmitry Zabirchenko’s team to take a solid step towards the championship.
Budivelnik won the 25th game of the season and has 50 points. In the event of a defeat in the remaining seven matches, the team will have 57 points – only Kiev-Basket can score the same amount of points. But the “Budivelnik” will have an advantage over its compatriots in personal meetings.
If Budivelnik does not allow seven technical losses in the remaining matches, he will become the de jure champion of Ukraine. At the same time, Kyiv-Basket will have to win all remaining matches.
The title of champion this season will be the 11th in the history of the Ukrainian championships for Budivelnik and the first after the 2016/2017 season. This is the highest number of Super League titles won in history.
