Giannis: “I don’t care if the best or the worst defender marks me, I’m always aggressive”
Giannis Antetokounbo explained after defeating the Thunder that he always had the same mentality regardless of opponent, while emphasizing for the 4/4 three-pointers he had that work will always beat talent.
Giannis Antitokoumbo led the Bucks to a 142-115 win over the Thunder in Oklahoma City, stopping at 39 points and making one more point clear after the game: whoever his opponent is, whether he’s a title contender or for a team in .. When rebuilding, he will always play with the same aggression.
Referring to his performance, Chris Middleton and Javon Carter, but also the 4/4 threes that ended the match, the “Greek Freak” said work will always beat talent.
Giannis explained in detail:
For Chris Middleton and his improvement as a creator: “He’s a high-level player. He makes good decisions. He fits in at the right time because he’s a threat. He’s improved a lot over the years and he’s at the highest level.”
Because he had the 4/4 threes in play: “Hard work beats talent. I have to keep working hard. If anyone sees my routine before games, I shoot from distance now. It was one of those days when the shots were fired. I’m feeling good. I’m still gaining confidence and I need to be more aggressive to improve.”
For Javon Carter: “Ehyes great shooter and playmaker. It’s not like he’s shooting though, I just see that even when he’s not shooting he’s going back to defense and heavily tagging the opposing player. He pushes his opponent all over the field and then organizes the game. What he does with his size is incredible“.
For the Bucks having one of the best attacks but mediocre defense after the break: “We have to improve. There is nothing else. To make our opponents’ work more difficult. To not lose defensive rebounds. We have to improve. Now we have 5 wins in a row, but we have to stay humble.”
For the fact that he won 13 fouls against the Thunder and whether it was based on a plan or a scouting report: “It wasn’t about the scouting report. I was just aggressive like every night, I wanted to get my points, go all the way in the basket and have a good time.”
How he does it while the Bucks played tight games against title contenders, then they played against a rebuilding team like the Thunder: “When you play against great teams like Chicago, Miami and Phoenix and then against Thunder, which is a good team with young players, you know they’re going to try to run, shoot and create problems for you.
But I want to be aggressive regardless of the opponent. It doesn’t matter if I’m up against the best or worst defender in the league. As a team we may not always be consistent, but we do what we have to do and build good habits. “For good teams, the opponent doesn’t matter.”
