OFFICIALLY. Budivelnik withdrew from the Balkan League. Named cause
The official website of the Balkan League published a call of the Ukrainian basketball club. “Budivelnik”says the team stopped playing in the tournament due to lack of funding:
“The information was sent 24 hours before the club was supposed to fly to Bulgaria to play in regular season matches in the Balkan League with Peya on March 21 and Beroe on March 23.
As a result of Budivelnik’s decision, all upcoming matches of the club were cancelled.
The league leadership will act in accordance with league regulations and after consultations with FIBA and the Ukrainian Basketball Federation.
According to the news on the official website of the league, the remaining matches of the season will be held according to the updated schedule, including the Final Four.
Budivelnik took the 3rd place in the Balkan League with 6 wins and 1 loss. The teams in the first two places in the rankings advance to the semi-finals, and the teams in the 3rd and 6th places advance to the quarter-finals.
